A thought on "post modernism".

The pre-modern, modern, post-modern discussion is false. It is not either-or. Societies existing outside of the realm of Western Civilization are not uncivilized. Communities that borrow from those societies that have existed outside of the realm of Western Civilization are not anti or pre modern. Western Civilization does not have a monopoly on modernity. There is no such thing as actually experiencing post modernism, for it is the future.

The term is an arrogant one, used by people who seek to put themselves -- or others -- above the, or their, present experience. By definition, post modernity can not be experienced in the present. Because the future can not be experienced in the present. What we call post modern, is, more accurately, creative -- sometimes even brilliant. Are we not be satisfied with that? Why? If people don't dig a certain creative act, it does not, does not, mean we need to protect our ego by calling the act some future-shit. Even that is merely present-shit, that people just aren't feeling. And that should be okay.
