The 9-piece, Chicago-based brass group Hypnotic Brass Ensemble features the 8 sons of Phil Cohran (Sun Ra Arkestra). The brothers were a street ensemble and in 2004 started their recording career. Since then, they've performed with Mos Def, Erykah Badu and Maxwell, and collaborated on a few tracks on the third Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach.

A documentary on the group is planned for a 2010 release. Here are some of our favorites:
